IPI’s Neurexin and Neuroligin antibodies are now available. Subscribe to our newsletter for updates on new synaptic cleft targets and product releases.
Neuronal communication and neurological function rely on chemical signaling across a narrow extracellular space known as the synaptic cleft.
Proteins positioned within this space govern synapse formation, maintenance and neurotransmission — but the exact architectures and pathways organizing the synaptic cleft are not yet clear. Antibodies specifically targeting synaptic cleft proteins will illuminate the mechanisms guiding neurotransmission, neural connectivity and neurological disorders, providing researchers with powerful tools to advance neuroscience.

About the collection
IPI’s Synaptic Cleft Antibody Collection comprises well-defined, highly selective recombinant, monoclonal antibodies generated via yeast display technology. The initial collection includes antibodies to the Neurexin and Neuroligin receptor families, key mediators of synaptic adhesion and function. Additional antibodies targeting other synaptic cleft proteins are currently under development.
IPI antibody purchasers are provided with access to data on antibody and antigen sequences, biophysical characteristics and performance in standard assays. All IPI antibodies go through extensive characterization, including:
- Molar mass verification via mass spectrometry
- Purity and structural integrity analysis via size exclusion chromatography
- Affinity and kinetics measurements via surface plasmon resonance
- Non-specific binding assessment via polyspecificity reagent assay testing
- Cross-reactivity analysis of all target family members via flow cytometry
- Validation in at least one standardized application
- Community-led antibody evaluation, with data available in the Addgene Data Hub
