About IPI

Our mission is to advance protein science to accelerate research and improve human health.

Unlocking protein biology

IPI is a nonprofit protein research institute located on the Harvard Medical School campus. In addition to novel research, we provide scientists access to protein tools, high-quality recombinant antibodies and learning opportunities to empower groundbreaking work and advance biomedical understanding.

How we are different

As a nonprofit institute, IPI is motivated by scientific need and impact — rather than profit.

Through innovative technologies and lab automation, we achieve high-throughput production of high-quality synthetic recombinant antibodies at scale.

We work closely with scientific communities, using a unique community validation model to engage a global team of researchers in testing the applicability of our tools in real-world experimentation.

Building an institute

  • 2015

Tim Springer hatches the idea of IPI, hosting the first Board meeting in his home.

  • 2017

With its yeast display library completed, IPI officially launches.

  • 2018

IPI relocates to the Harvard Medical School campus.

  • 2020

IPI licenses its first antibody and launches its antibody validation campaign.

Test our antibodies

Gain early access to novel proteins by testing our beta-stage antibodies in your lab.

Pursue a joint project

IPI welcomes collaborations large and small in an effort to accelerate protein research.

Use our proteins
