Epitope tag antibody collection

Epitope tags are short amino acid sequences fused to a protein’s N- or C-terminus. When paired with an antibody that specifically recognizes this sequence, epitope tags can help purify, detect or localize particular proteins. However, epitope tag antibodies can be expensive and, therefore, difficult to obtain.

To fill the gap, IPI developed recombinant versions of antibodies that recognize common epitope tags, including V5, Protein C, DYKDDDDK, Rho, His, Biotin, EE, GCN4 and Strep. These antibodies are now easily and inexpensively available from IPI through Addgene. 

All IPI antibodies go through extensive characterization, including:

• Molar mass verification via mass spectrometry
• Purity and structural integrity analysis via size exclusion chromatography
• Affinity and kinetics measurements via surface plasmon resonance
• Non-specific binding assessment via polyspecificity reagent assay testing
• Activity analysis via flow cytometry

True to our open science model, we will be sharing the antibody sequences with purchasers and releasing the plasmids that encode the antibodies in summer 2024.
